Referee

South County Seaside Classic not only has teams that travel from all over the region, but we draw referees from across the northeast and the length of the east coast. We look for quality referees that are looking to expand their experience by working with the best youth referees RI and the region has to offer. Our crews include state level referees, referees that recently worked the Region 1 Championships and ODP tournament, and referees looking to advance in grade. We regularly need over 125 referees to staff the tournament. Housing is available for a limited number of referees traveling in from out of state. If you are interested in joining our crews click the
following link and fill out the requested information.
We have premier divisions in every age group above U12. We are able to offer assignments that will give you a chance to work both middles and lines with sufficient recovery time between matches. Our tournament also uses standard USYS tournament rules with only slight modifications. For a full copy of the tournament rules, or a
summary of the modifications click here.
In addition to tournament leadership who are referees, there is a lot of support available to our referees during the tournament. We have assessor and mentoring programs, a long list of event and referee management people to send out to any fields that may get heated. Every field has a field marshal to assist you and every 11v11 game is covered by a three-referee system. Not to mention on-site EMT and police. There are also stand-by referees to fill in when needed, so you will never be left hanging.
We also offer an incentive to teams by having a sportsmanship award that is voted on by the referees in each division. The sportsmanship points also operate as the final tie-breaker if goal difference is tied.
Our tournament staff has experience working at tournaments around the country and is always open to suggestions for helping to improve the referee environment.
